In the early years Gon Bops drums were the standard that every other drum was measured against. They had a great sound but unfortunately had many of the same problems as the early Cuban drums.
In 1998 Gon Bops decided to stop producing drums and sold their manufacturing equipment and inventory to Mr. Mel Morrow, who then created Timba Percussion. along with the machinery came the master craftsmen that had been producing Gon Bops for over 25 years. Everyone at Timba put their heads together and redesigned the new Timba drums to eliminate all the problems associated with previous drums, an created an instrument far superior to any other being built today. Timba has taken all of the good aspects of the early Cuban drums while improving the reliability and tonal qualities of the instrument. Silvia Cunningham, General Manager of Timba, is dedicated to maintaining Timba's high standards of quality and service while maintaining the traditions of the original Cuban drums. Silvia is responsible for the high level of service and production schedule that insures the rapid shipping of orders. |
